Greece’s Hidden Gem for Beaches, Villages, and Adventure
If you’re dreaming of a Greek island escape, Paros should be at the top of your list. With its beautiful beaches, charming villages, and unforgettable experiences, it’s an island that captivates all who visit. Here are seven reasons why you’ll fall in love with Paros.
1. Charming Villages Like Naoussa and Parikia
For accommodation, I’ve had the pleasure of staying in both Naoussa and Parikia. Each has its own charm, and I highly recommend both depending on what you’re looking for.
Naoussa is where we stayed on our small group tour, and the Senia Hotel was everything you could ask for. The infinity pool sparkles at night with fairy lights, and you can easily walk into town in just five minutes. Naoussa is lively, full of cobbled streets and boutique shops, and the waterfront is lined with incredible restaurants serving fresh seafood and traditional Greek dishes. It’s the perfect spot for those who want a mix of relaxation and activity.
On the other hand, Parikia, where I stayed with my kids in 2017, has a more traditional feel. We loved staying at Anna Platanou Hotel, a family-run hotel steps away from the main street along the waterfront. Parikia is quieter than Naoussa but full of charm, with plenty of history, including the famous Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani. It’s a perfect base for families and those wanting a slower pace and for those gorgeous sunsets right from the waters edge.

2. Incredible Beaches from Kolymbithres to Golden Sands
The beaches in Paros are some of the best in Greece, and there’s a stretch of sand for every mood. Kolymbithres, with its unique rock formations, creates little natural swimming pools that feel otherworldly. It’s a peaceful spot perfect for exploring by kayak or simply lounging by the crystal-clear waters.
On the southern side of the island, you’ll find Golden Beach, a haven for windsurfing and sunbathing on soft, golden sands. There are plenty of quieter beaches like Piso Livadi, where you can enjoy lunch by the sea after a swim. No matter where you go, the beaches of Paros will steal your heart.

3. Explore Paros by Moped, Taxi, or Bus
Paros is the perfect size for exploring, and getting around is easy. You can hire a taxi, hop on the island’s convenient bus service, or, like me, rent a moped and enjoy the freedom of the open road.
I’ll never forget my first time on Paros. Our boat couldn’t make it to Mykonos due to rough seas, so we stayed on Paros for a few days. We rented a moped and explored the entire island in one day. With hardly any traffic, it felt like we had the island to ourselves. The winding roads led us to stunning views, quaint villages, and hidden beaches that made me fall in love with Paros.

4. Greek Salads with Whipped Feta and Local Delicacies
Let’s talk food because no trip to Greece is complete without indulging in the local cuisine. One of my absolute favorites is the classic Greek salad, and Paros does it better than anywhere else. The fresh, juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, tangy olives, and creamy whipped feta are heaven in a bowl. Trust me, whipped feta is an absolute game-changer. There’s just something about the simplicity and freshness of the ingredients that makes every meal feel special.
For those with a sweet tooth, you cannot leave Paros without visiting Ragoussis Bakery. Located in both Naoussa and Parikia, this bakery is a local institution, serving up a range of traditional Greek pastries, fresh bread, and mouth-watering desserts. Every time I visit, I’m drawn to their loukoumades (Greek doughnuts) and baklava. The place is always bustling with locals grabbing their morning coffee or an afternoon treat. It’s one of those spots that makes you feel like a part of the island’s daily rhythm, and I highly recommend stopping by for a taste of authentic Paros.

5. Boat Cruises to the Blue Lagoon and Antiparos
One of my favorite ways to experience Paros is by boat. We’ve had two incredible boat tours, both offering something unique. The first one we did with Captain Ben, and if you’re looking for fun, energy, and a party vibe, this is for you! His Instagram-worthy boat tour is perfect for those 50 and under. With water slides, jumping platforms, music, dancing, and a fantastic BBQ lunch, it’s a full day of joy. We stopped at hidden coves and swam in the bluest waters you can imagine.
For a more laid-back experience, we also took a cruise on the Meraki, which we booked through Viator. This tour is perfect for all ages and offers a relaxed day of exploring the stunning waters around Paros and Antiparos, including the famous Blue Lagoon. The crystal-clear water here is like nothing you’ve ever seen, and jumping in for a swim feels like pure bliss. Whether you’re 20 or 60, this boat tour is an absolute must-do.

6. Hidden Villages Like Lefkes and Traditional Greek Life
One of the best things about Paros is the chance to explore its lesser-known areas. The village of Lefkes is a hidden gem. Nestled in the hills, it’s one of the most traditional villages on the island, and walking through its narrow streets feels like stepping back in time. The whitewashed houses, old churches, and stunning views make it a peaceful retreat from the busier towns.
As you wander through Lefkes, stop for a coffee in a shaded square and take in the slow pace of life here. It’s one of those spots where you can truly appreciate the beauty of Greek island life.

7. A Rich Sense of Culture and History
Paros is an island with deep roots in Greek history. In Parikia, you can visit the Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani, one of the oldest and most important churches in Greece, dating back to the 4th century. Strolling through Parikia’s old town is like walking through history, with ancient ruins and Venetian architecture at every turn.
Everywhere you go on the island, you’ll find a mix of ancient history and modern life, making Paros a place where culture comes alive in the most beautiful way.

8. Shopping in Paros: Hidden Treasures Around Every Corner
Whether you’re in Naoussa or Parikia, the shopping is something you won’t want to miss. I always find unique pieces on Paros—think handmade jewelry, artisan crafts, and chic clothing boutiques. The beauty of shopping here is that it feels intimate, with most shops owned by locals who are happy to chat with you about their craft. Every time I wear the jewellery I bought here, I’m reminded of the island’s beauty and warmth.
