Let’s dive into the heart of my wanderlust-filled adventures, where each destination I visited became a canvas painting of memories on my soul. From the vast landscapes of Australia to the enchanting streets of Morocco, every step I take weaves a story of cultural immersion and personal growth.
Exploring Australia’s Tapestry:
My childhood road trips with Mum and Dad laid the foundation for my love of travel. As we traversed the Australian landscape, stopping at factories and learning about everything from rice production to dam operations, my curiosity blossomed. Mum, a teacher by profession, turned those journeys into educational expeditions, creating cherished memories. She’d read us our school books as we drove along and I can still remember the mix of my imagination of the stories intertwined with the landscapes going by.
European Odyssey:
Fast forward to the start of my career as a dental nurse, earning and saving my first years pay which was an opening to my first overseas adventure – a faith conference in Germany. Amidst the diversity of languages and cultures, I felt a profound connection. Exploring Europe and the UK, from France and Italy to Switzerland and the historic streets of London and Israel, ignited a passion for understanding the world’s rich tapestry.
Global Exploration with my Kids:
In 2017, I took a leap, selling my home to embark on a globe-trotting adventure with my three kids. From the bustling streets of Marrakech to the serene beauty of the Greek coast, we embraced the magic of Disney in Florida, stood in awe at the Grand Canyon, and soared over landscapes in a helicopter. Every destination became a chapter in our family’s travel story.
Morocco’s Dades Valley: A Pinch-Me Moment:
While each destination touched my soul, the Dades Valley in Morocco held a moment of pure magic. At Hotel Xaluca Dades, perched on a hill overlooking the town, I experienced surreal joy. As drum beats and festive sounds filled the air from a wedding procession below, I felt alive. It was a pinch me moment as I realised I was on the other side of the world seeing and hearing something so different to my daily life, a different culture and another way to celebrate life. I realised in that moment I wanted to experience more of this. This is the essence of why I travel – to open my heart and eyes to unique, unforgettable moments that enrich my life.
