Northern Lights Arctic Journey Finland & Norway | December 30th 2026 – January 23rd 2027
Some journeys are simply holidays. Others feel like stepping into another world. This unforgettable winter adventure takes us deep into the Arctic Circle during one of the most magical times of the year — when snow blankets the landscape, forests sparkle with frost, and the night sky comes alive with the dancing colours of the Northern Lights.
Our journey begins in the beautiful Nordic capital of Helsinki, where we welcome the New Year together in true Scandinavian style.
Wandering through the charming streets, enjoying cosy restaurants and winter lights, we gently ease into the rhythm of the north before heading further into the Arctic wilderness. From here we travel to Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus and the gateway to Lapland. Snow-covered forests stretch endlessly around us as we experience our first true taste of Arctic adventure. Imagine riding a snowmobile through silent white landscapes, visiting huskies, and crossing the Arctic Circle. As we continue north into the remote beauty of Saariselkä and Inari, we begin to experience the heart of Finnish Lapland. Here we connect with the traditions of the Sami people, visit reindeer farms, try ice fishing, and relax in traditional Nordic saunas.
One of the most magical moments of the journey comes when we stay in Aurora cabins overlooking frozen landscapes — the perfect place to watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed if they appear. Then our adventure crosses the border into Norway, arriving in the remote Arctic town of Kirkenes, perched near the edge of the Barents Sea. Here we visit the famous Snowhotel and head out into the Arctic night on a husky sled in search of the aurora. From Kirkenes we begin one of the world’s most spectacular coastal voyages aboard the legendary Hurtigruten. This historic coastal ship sails along Norway’s dramatic fjord-filled coastline, weaving through remote fishing villages, snowy islands, and towering cliffs.
Along the way we visit some of Norway’s most breathtaking Arctic towns including Tromsø, often called the gateway to the Arctic, before continuing south past the stunning Lofoten region and through the incredible fjord landscapes. Eventually we arrive in the colourful harbour city of Bergen, where brightly painted wooden houses line the waterfront beneath snow-dusted mountains. But the adventure continues. From Bergen we experience the legendary Norway in a Nutshell journey — one of the most scenic travel routes in the world. Travelling by train, bus and fjord cruise, we pass through dramatic valleys, frozen waterfalls and towering mountains as we explore the spectacular fjord region around Flåm and Voss. Our journey concludes in Norway’s vibrant capital, Oslo, where we celebrate everything we have experienced together over these magical weeks. Throughout the journey there will be countless opportunities to witness one of nature’s most breathtaking spectacles — the Aurora Borealis. Some nights it may appear as a soft glow across the horizon. Other nights it may dance wildly across the sky in ribbons of green and purple light. And when it happens… standing beneath those shimmering skies, surrounded by snow and silence… it’s a moment you will never forget. This is not a rushed tour. It’s a slow, immersive Arctic journey designed to truly experience the magic of the north. Snow-covered forests. Frozen fjords. Cosy Nordic towns. Ancient Sami traditions.
